How a Pondless Waterfall Works
The magic of a pondless waterfall is surprisingly simple — and that simplicity is part of what makes it so low maintenance.
- The reservoir — A large underground basin is excavated and lined, then filled with a special matrix of wicking blocks that hold water without collapsing under the weight of the rocks above. This is where all the water lives when the feature is off.
- The pump — A submersible pump sits inside the reservoir and pushes water up through a pipe hidden beneath the rocks and stream bed.
- The stream or falls — Water emerges at the top, flows naturally over and between carefully placed boulders and gravel, and makes its way back down into the reservoir — where the cycle starts again.
- The controls — A simple switch or timer turns the whole system on and off. Many of our clients use a smart outlet so they can control it from their phone.

Step 3 — Installation
Our certified team handles everything from excavation to final rock placement. Most installations are completed in one to three days. We use only Aquascape components — the industry gold standard — backed by manufacturer warranties.

When we're done, we walk you through everything — how to operate your feature, seasonal care tips, and what to expect year-round. You'll feel completely confident managing your new water feature from day one.
